Deliverables: Phase 1 MVP: Upgraded Edify platform and UX/UI to support import and sharing of high render quality cultural heritage content.
This project is still ongoing, with the video embedded showcasing the MVP in use at a recent public engagement event. 90% of museum artefacts remain behind the scenes, inaccessible to the public. The logistics and sensitive handling of cultural heritage objects make access a time-consuming and labour intensive process.
Using cutting-edge photogrammetry equipment to scan museum objects up to 1 tonne in weight - University of Glasgow aims to create best practice object capture and 3D model optimisation processes to enable museums worldwide to capture and share - sensitively and securely - incredible objects in VR or AR. Edify provides the immersive platform and 3D object and environment import pipeline for creating metaverse experiences centered around museum objects and spaces.
